Overcome Feeling Overwhelmed

In a typical day we are juggling like crazy, family, pets, work, laundry, shopping, cooking, cleaning, bills, emails, deadlines, appointments, information overload, emergencies, own needs, right at the bottom!  When we are feeling overwhelmed it’s hard to deal with our daily lives.

It’s exhausting!

Last Friday, I ran a workshop at Network Ireland’s Annual Conference and the subject I spoke about was Overcoming Overwhelm, addressing the afore-mentioned, a modern day epidemic.

The audience was composed of women in business across many industries. It was a great learning day for all concerned as powerful women in Ireland shared their tips on conquering their personal summits, which was the theme of the event.

I thought you might like to read the main points from my workshop which tied in to the overall message of the day and I’m sure it will help you manage your busy life better and overcome feeling overwhelmed.

Overcome Overwhelm

  • Let go of the need to be perfect. Good enough is good enough!

  • Delegate and ask for help, it may be tedious in the beginning, training someone in to do a job you normally do, be patient. It will be worth it in the end.

  • Manage Your time. Do a To-Do list the evening before and do the thing you least want to do first, making the rest a doddle.

  • Say NO more often, honour yourself first, you might even discover the other person was hoping you’d say NO in certain circumstances.

  • Re-evaluate your life, prioritise the non-negotiables such as family time and ‘me’ time.

Remember, you are more than the roles you play, time is not renewable.

Ask yourself often – “Why am I doing this?” then listen for the answer, you might then ask – “Is that really why?” and finally, ask, Is it really worth putting myself through this?”

Lastly –

You can do anything but you can’t do everything!

I hope you found this helpful and if you want to step back from the busyness of your life for two nights in luxury and in a peaceful, tranquil environment, there’s still time to book your place on my upcoming retreat –
